St. Mary’s Sunshine Center will be offering themed camps filled with fun and adventure. Each session is full of hands-on activities that focus on different interests. Some weeks may have field trips and/or guest speakers unfortunately, this is unknown at this time.
Week 1: 6/19-6/23 Crafts Around the World-Campers will explore a variety of different crafts and mediums from different countries. Campers will create Kente style paper strips, Navajo sand paintings, Japanese windsocks, Latin American maracas and much more! Camper will investigate the country and origin of their projects and add these countries to their passports. (Optional/additional cost field trip Board & Brush)
Week 2: 6/26-6/30 Ooey Gooey! Campers will have a messy good time with hands on science activities. Campers will make slime, sidewalk chalk, bath bombs, bubble art and so much more. (Optional/additional cost field trip Baltimore Discovery Zone)
Week 3: 7/3-7/7 Red, White, and Blue-Campers will be introduced to the history of our flag. They will create with their own flag and doing lots of hands on red, white, and blue crafts and games.
Week 4: 7/10-7/14 Grocery Games- Who says groceries can’t be fun. Camper will participate in food related challenges and silly grocery games. They will also make some of yummy treats. (Optional/additional cost field trip Ledos Pizza)
Week 5: 7/17-7/21 Where the Wild Things are! Campers will investigate wild animals, their habitats, and the traits that make them unique. (Optional/additional cost field trip Baltimore Zoo)
Week 6: 7/24-7/28 A World of Science- Science is all around us. Camper will look at very day items and experiment with things found around the house. Campers will write with invisible ink, grow some crystal, make solar oven smores, and design their own crayons. (Optional/additional cost field trip Baltimore Science Center)
Week 7: 7/31-8/4 H2Ooooo- Campers will get wet and wild while exploring the properties of water. Campers will paint with colored ice, make a storm in a glass, explore hydrophobic sand and much more. Campers should plan to get wet with outside water games, sprinklers, and slip-n-slide play. (Optional/additional cost field trip Chesapeake water park – must have enough chaperones)
Week 8: 8/7-8/11 Mini Makers - Campers will tap into their creative side! Utilizing various mediums, we will create many hand-crafted treasures. Campers will express their creativity through jewelry making, painting, sculpting, weaving and lots more! Camper will discover the most beautiful creation are perfectly imperfect and unique.
Week 9: 8/14-8/18 Trailblazers - Campers will demonstrate their problem-solving skills by participating in group problem solving games, and by building simple structures, testing them, and fixing any problems. They will also test their survival skills by building a shelter, making a campfire, practicing first aid skills.
Sunshine summer camps are for ages 5 through 12. Campers will be placed in groups according to age and/or ability. Camp costs include camp and daycare between 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. A $15.00 registration fee is due at time of registration for new Campers. Registration fee does not apply to current Sunshine students. There is an $80.00 deposit per week due at time of registration for all campers. Remaining balance must be paid on or prior to June 16th. The ice cream truck is back. It will visit Sunshine on Wednesdays. Please send in money if you would like your camper to purchase something from the truck. Your camper will be responsible for their money and any change to be returned to parents.
First Time Campers- Print and fill out all the enrollment forms found on St. Mary’s Sunshine Center’s website sunshine-center.com; Emergency Card, Health Inventory with an updated shot record, All about Me form and the Summer Camp registration. The forms and form of payment can be turned in to the front desk at St. Mary’s Sunshine Center or emailed to sunshineadmin@sunshine-center.com. All new campers pay a one-time $15 registration fee. (no fee for returning campers and current Sunshine Center students)
Current Sunshine Student and Returning Campers: Print and fill out the summer camp registration form found on our website. The form can be turned in at the front desk or emailed to sunshineadmin@sunshine-center.com.
Tuition and Fees: Camp costs $225 per camp week. There is an $80.00 non-refundable deposit per camp week. This is a non-refundable deposit payable to St. Mary’s Sunshine Center. The deposit will be applied to the camp fee. The remaining balance for ALL camp weeks is due June 16th. Payment in full will be due at the time of registration for anyone registering after May 31st. Refunds and Deposit Policy: There are no refunds of any kind after June 16th. The deposits for the camps are non-refundable.
Payment Methods: Payment can be made by credit card (Visa, Master Card, Discover) or current Tuition Express account.
Lunch/Snacks: Campers must bring their own food. They will need am snack, a ready to eat lunch and a pm snack. 1% milk will be provided to drink with meals.
Let us know if your child has any dietary restrictions or food allergies.
Documentation from your child’s physician is required and can be turned in to the front desk or faxed to (301) 475-2397.
Special Needs or Medical Concerns: Let us know at time of enrollment if your child has any medical concerns or special needs. Additional information is needed for your child to enroll. A medication form must be filled out for any medication, prescribed or over the counter, that your child will need. This form can be found on our website.
Field Trips and Guest Speakers: Trips will be optional and have additional costs.
Water day/ Ice Cream: Every Wednesday, weather permitting, campers will have water day and Ice Cream. For water day your child will need a bathing suit, water shoes (NO Flip Flops), towel, and sunscreen. Sunscreen is to be applied in the morning before arrival and will be reapplied in the afternoon. Water Day items will be sent home every week to be washed. Sunscreen can remain at the center to be applied every afternoon at outside time.
The ice cream truck returns this summer! Please send in money on Wednesdays with your camper.
